The positivity will have to come later. Or: WTF – the sequel.

I will be back with something positive to say later, because I can’t really totally react to the result of tonight’s ChiSox game yet because I didn’t actually see it for myself. And, I really am determined to be positive.

But, seriously? A freaking no-hitter? I don’t even know that there are words for the entire absurdity of this White Sox season. A pitcher with a losing record and an ERA over 9???

Honestly and for serious? Okay, so I might not have predicted a win, but I sure didn’t see this one coming.

I think all that I have to say can be summed up with: WTF?!

Extra ChiSox awesomeness, Day 3 Or: A win!

Finally, a win at The Cell. It was a nice surprise to load up GameDay around the 7th inning and see that we were winning. And, then to tune in again at the bottom of the 8th, and bite my fingernails a little bit throughout the top of the 9th.

santos-save.pngSo, yes, of course it’s a little easier to be positive today! But, if I was going to focus on one thing to be positive about, I think its time to talk about Sergio Santos.

3 saves in as many opportunities, he still has a 0.00 ERA (though, everyone who saw the game in NY knows that he owes that, in part, to Brent Lillibridge), and just generally coming out and getting the job done.

It is nice that we, as a collective unit of White Sox fans, don’t have to cringe every time we go to the bullpen in the 9th inning. Sure, the beginning of the season means that we’re all probably a little on edge, but at least we have someone that is proving to be up to the task.

Go, White Sox!

Focusing on the good stuff, Day Two. Or: Why not talk about Brent Lillibridge some more?

So, again, busy weekend at work = no time for Keleigh to watch the game yesterday.

But, I caught the highlights and the lowlights and read the recaps and I’m choosing to believe that there was some real good in there. Not enough, yet, but enough that I don’t have to wear my imaginoscope to find it.

It’s been a long time since we’ve had a late-inning spurt of scoring and it was nice to see Adam Dunn finally come through in the clutch.

Also nice to see, was Brent Lillibridge making the most of a starting appearance. I mean we know that he can pull of near-[miracles] on defense. And, last night he reminded us that he can play offense, too. Not only does he have the highest OBP on the roster and only Juan Pierre has stolen more bases than he has (having played 11 more games), he’s hit 3 home runs this year.

Like [this one].

Focusing on the good, people. Focusing on the good.

Go, White Sox!

What’s awesome about the White Sox, Day One. Or: May – a whole new ball game.

So, April is finally over and my moratorium on over-reacting should be over as well. However, this “not getting so worked up over everything” dealio that I had going on for April is kind of working for me these days. And, also, I don’t know when thngs are going to change, so I should really just concetrating on trying to enjoy what there is to enjoy.

I’m going to enjoy the rest of this season, whatever it brings. The slump can’t last forever (hypothetically) and I’m pretty excited about the games I’m going to later this month, so I’m determined that May is going to be a month that is all about good stuff.. (And, okay, maybe a bit of griping – I am only human, after all.) But, like tonight, it is easier to be positive when you didn’t have to watch the negative stuff live-as-it-happened. And, besides, being there when the slump turns around is pretty darned exciting, too.

charliebrown-baseball-homerun.jpgAnd, as such, I have decided that, win or lose, I’m going to post something that is awesome about the White Sox. Every day (hopefully!) I am going to try to pick one thing that is great. And, maybe I will even get to give out some more gold stars. Because I love the team and the game and I am going to make it fun again – even if this season stays a little painful. Because I really am not defecting for Tampa Bay (though it is tempting to hop on the bandwagon) or the National League and I’m sticking with the Sox.

So, Day One: Starting with something from the archives. Omar Vizquel and career hit #2800 (April 3, 2011) – [click here]

Man, I hope he gets to 3,000. One more step on the road to Cooperstown. (And, y’all can’t tell me any different. :) )
